Details and Aim of Trial
To establish the most suitable selection of lights and layout for a diverse user pathway complex
Light selection rationale
- Lights chosen to conform as closely as possible with existing roadway lighting standards (Vic Roads)
- Placement chosen to best delineate and identify paths and crossings for both pedestrian and cyclists (with respect to pathways characteristics and spacing between)
Layout plan
- Delineation lights (Red/White bidirectional LED Steady) on path sides spaced according to visibility
- Amber steady monodirectional LED chosen to indicate crossings and/or merging paths and roads

- Section of the Bayside Path running between North Road and Glynburn Ave Brighton
Trial environment description
- Minimal street lighting due to ecological issues (sensitive foreshore micro-ecology)
- High level of pedestrain usage
- High level of car usage
- Playground precinct
- High level of recreational cyclist usage
- Many crossings
- Butted main roads
- Boat ramp and associated infrastructure
- Car park
- Restaurant traffic
